High Hopes I

Pieced together in sections, like a story told panel by panel — a lone surfer up top, a row of skulls, a scatter of flowers below. Many layers of acrylic, spray paint, oil and charcoal are built up and worked back into a highly textured, wall-like surface, with fiberglass used in the lower half to tie into the raw textures, and as a connection to the surfer.
